Macrorrhiza is truly a work of art by nature, is a fun addition to most collections, The large, upright blade-shaped leaves of this variegated species are characterized by marbled mottling of green and white cream blends, it is a very rare plant, it can only be propagated through pups, which results in a very limited supply. Plant Care
– Upon arrival, leaves should be mist to help hydrate, if soil is still moist allow it to dry, placed in a medium light location to adjust from shipping.
– Best to water and mist leaves regularly every 2-3 days, check the soil frequently until you are sure of the plant’s watering needs, water soil once you feel top one inch of soil is dry, this plant thrives in high humidity conditions, Alocasia plants require less water during the winter when it’s dormant.
– Best to keep indoor in bright indirect light.
– Please note Alocasia’s are susceptible to some yellowing of the oldest bottom leaves from transit, this is normal, bottom leaves will also yellow and collapse from regular growth, then new shoots will appear from the center of the plant, gradually unwind and a new leaf forms, Alocaisa will bounce back within weeks and will continue sending out new shoots. Patience is key as they need time to recover and adjust to their new environment.
• Plants shipped online are in complete darkness for several days, once received allow the plant to acclimate to its new environment.
• Repotting / Fertilizing, Wait 4 weeks before repotting or fertilizing, Fertilize during Spring to Fall base on label instructions.
• Water, allow the top 1-2 inch of Soil to dry out, may take 5-7 days, water slowly to allow the soil to moist evenly.
• Humidity, most Tropical plants can benefit from regular moisture, a humidifier or regular misting is recommended.
• Light, if is bright enough to read is bright enough for plants, if outdoors place in indirect sun light under Shade.
